Taishin FHC excels again in sustainability biggest winner in the banking sector with 6 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards
The 2023 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards, hosted by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, held the award ceremony together with the Asia-Pacific Forum & Exposition for Sustainability today. Taishin FHC received 3 silver awards and 3 bronze awards. These six awards included one silver award for the Asia Pacific region and 2 silver awards for and 3 bronze awards for Taiwan, making Taishin FHC the biggest winner in the banking sector. The awards were presented by Premier of Executive Yuan, Chien-Jen Chen, at the ceremony. Taishin FHC Chairman Thomas Wu showed the commitment and support for sustainability action by attending in person to receive the awards.
According to Taishin FHC President Welch Lin, these awards reflected Taishin's success in extending its core financial services to make contribution to sustainability in personal banking. Taishin urges everyone to start From Hero to Hero in the everyday life and join the march toward net zero. Meanwhile, Taishin takes advantage of fintech to find a balance between the environment and financial inclusion.
Taishin FHC won a silver award in the Taiwan region this year for the Taishin Payment App and the Gogoro Rewards card from Taishin Bank. The Taishin Payment App turns a mobile phone into a credit card terminal that makes it easier for merchants to receive money and manage the service. It provides an easy, convenient, and safe way of improving transaction efficiency and reducing unnecessary costs for merchants. It also facilitates better sales performance and digital capability for micromerchants. Following the idea of responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), the Taishin Payment App ensures all merchants have access to an affordable payment tool. Furthermore, the Gogoro Rewards card, co-branded by Taishin Bank and Gogoro, offers Gogoro Rewards points on transactions at Gogoro stores, battery charges, and all other transactions elsewhere. The points can be used to deduct the cost of electric vehicles, maintenance, and batteries. Higher rebates from the co-branded card significantly reduce the costs of electric vehicles. The card helps more people to go green by effectively reducing the cost of low carbon transportation so that people can enjoy affordable clean energy (SDG 7).
Moreover, Taishin Bank took advantage of its strength in digital banking and launched the Rose Giving Card platform, One Ride platform, and equal and diverse financial services. All three received a bronze award in the Taiwan region each. In addition, equal and diverse financial services also received a silver award in the Asia Pacific region. First, regarding the Rose Giving Card platform, it works with Yellow885, which is a household cleaning service, to create a friendly service platform. The platform not only help cardholders better allocate their family time, but guide more occupational school students to enter the market and provide training, thereby creating decent work and economic growth (SDG 8). Second, regarding the One Ride platform, Taishin combines well known domestic and foreign e-payment brands (e.g. JKOS, Pi Mobile Wallet, +PAY, and Alipay) and one-time connection with an application programming interface (API) to bring together wallet providers and transport operators. The platform enables wallet users to use a QR code to enter and exit gates quickly and safely, which is in line with the requirement of industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9). Finally, regarding equal and diverse financial services, Taishin Bank actively promotes inclusive financial services by developing a diverse range of financial products and services tailored to different needs in different fields or customer bases. Examples include friendly financial information, Rose the smart customer service, ATM and mobile payment service, and in-branch VIP welcome. In addition, Taishin Bank works hard to make financial services more accessible and support SMEs by promoting use of virtual customer service, official Taishin Bank LINE account, and payment API. These services together provide a full range of e-banking services that work with nondiscriminative digital services to incorporate financial services seamlessly into everyday spending scenarios and reduce inequalities in banking (SDG 10).
The award ceremony for the 2023 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards was held on the first day of the 2023 Asia Pacific Forum & Exposition for Sustainability.
