CSR Works International of Singapore has organized the “Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards” since 2015 for the purpose of awarding recognition to the leaders of sustainability reporting in Asia. Welch Lin, President of Taishin FHC, stated that the “Asia's Best Community Reporting Gold Award” recognized Taishin’s long-term contributions to Taiwan in terms of charity and welfare, arts and cultural development, sports, and academic exchanges. Taishin adopted the management model of the London Benchmark Group (LBG) to assess the input and output with quantitative data methods and evaluate the resources contributed by Taishin to social engagement and their benefits. In 2020, we also adopted the Social Return on Investment (SROI) to provide the insight of the social value into the long-term campaign, “Power of Love” campaign to enhance the communication with stakeholders to continue to expand social influence. In response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Taishin has donated antibacterial soap, masks, and forehead thermometers, and other pandemic prevention supplies through the Foundation to continue to support small and medium social welfare organizations. We also encouraged people to purchase vegetables and plants grown by social welfare organizations for delivery to their homes and used online concerts and documentaries so that people still have the opportunity to experience art and culture while staying at home. In addition, Taishin has always encouraged employees to serve as volunteers. Employees contributed more than 15,000 volunteer hours and Taishin made 310 matches between social welfare organizations and resources in 2020. In addition to employees, the Company also continues to work with suppliers, communities, and customers to create inclusive society. Taishin assembled more than one million credit cardholders in 2020 for the “Credit Card Donation Campaign” for donations to designated social welfare organizations/foundations and the campaign raised NT$1.6 billion. Taishin also encouraged cardholders to switch to digital statements and funded the installation of energy-saving lighting equipment for hundreds of vulnerable families. Taishin continues to advance toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through continuous implementation.
Moreover, Taishin FHC also won the “Asia's Best Sustainability Report Design Gold Award” and “Asia's Best Stakeholder Reporting Silver Award” which showed that Taishin has provided comprehensive and transparent reporting for sustainable governance, high-quality services, sustainable finance, friendly workplace, green operation, and social influence. The Report also helped stakeholders understand Taishin's improvements in all sectors. Our major corporate governance initiatives in recent years included the appointment of female directors, external performance evaluation of the Board of Directors and functional committees, and the establishment of the Nominating Committee. We also actively supported international initiatives such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), signed up as a supporter of Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and became a member of the Equator Principles due to our acute awareness of climate change. We also voluntarily comply with United Nations Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) and Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) to incorporate ESG into the evaluation of investment and financing, and gradually implement the spirit of the FSC's Green Finance Action Plan 2.0.
Welch Lin emphasized that Taishin FHC has been included in both Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World and Emerging Markets for the third consecutive year, and it was ranked by MSCI as an AA Leader among global companies with outstanding ESG performance. Furthermore, Taishin FHC ranked on CDP’s A List for climate change for the first time last year and will continue to adopt active and diverse measures to meet the expectations for Taishin's sustainable development and become a smart partner for all.
