Art and Culture Festivals

Art both nourishes one's soul and it also elevates our quality of life in the sphere of culture. This is why Taishin has long been dedicated to the promotion and sponsorship of various art and cultural events. We hope that we can encourage the creation of artworks, propagate art exchange opportunities, as well as implement art education.

2019

  • "Sunshower: Contemporary Art from Southeast Asia 1980s to Now" tour held at Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts in partnership with Mori Art Museum.  This exhibition explored contemporary art in Southeast Asia from the 1980s onward from various perspectives, including aspirations for freedom, identity, growth and its dark sides, community, faith and tradition, and the revisiting of history. It also presented a showcase of a profusion of artworks through a sampling of important works by 47 established and emerging artists from the various member countries of ASEAN.

  • Valery Gergiev, the general director and artistic director at the Mariinsky Theatre, once said, “I endorse our dancers in the name of the Mariinsky Theatre, because I believe they can convince audiences from around the world.” It has been seven years since their last visit to Taiwan, but the Mariinsky Ballet and Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra are visiting Taiwan again to perform the complete ballet of “Swan Lake” in 3 acts, with nearly a hundred performing dancers. Designated flooring, brand new costumes, delicate sets, etc. are especially being flown in from St. Petersburg to present the best performance to the Taiwanese audience.

  • Star Wars: Return of the Jedi was first released in 1983. The film grossed $572 million worldwide, and earned first place at the box office in America that year. The film's score was written by the famous movie composer John Williams. A new concert for Star Wars music was introduced at the beginning of 2019, performed by the National Symphony Orchestra and with Keith Lockhart, the music director of the Boston Pops Orchestra, invited to serve as the guest conductor. Large screens playing the entire film in high definition were coupled with the majestic melodies of the orchestra performing the classic score, allowing fans from around the world to experience this ultimate live experience.

2018

  • Amadeus, the 1984 drama film, fictionalized the biography of the musical wunderkind - Mozart. In 2018, the Vienna State Opera Chorus performed the classic movie through symphony, chorus, and movie, in which the beauty of classic music and the fineness of movie pictures were recollected, giving the audience a chance to further realize the most talented musician, Mozart.

  • The Treasures of the Natural World exhibition that was visited Taiwan in 2018 featured 227 precious specimens from the collections of the Natural History Museum in London, in five broad categories: Animals, Plants, Geology, Paleontology, and Minerals. This was the first time that these specimens had been shown in Taiwan. The exhibition - which also included specimens of endangered Taiwanese butterflies from the National Museum of Natural Science in Taichung and a Formosan Clouded Leopard specimen from the National Taiwan Museum - enabled visitors to learn about both Taiwan's natural environment and global natural history.

  • A collaborative exhibition organized jointly by the world-famous Tate art museum and Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, based around the theme of “nudes,” featured over 120 works that were being shown in Taiwan for the first time, including oil paintings, sculptures, photographic works, works on paper, etc. The exhibition - which included works by world-renowned artists such as Rodin, Renoir, Matisse, and Picasso - was one of the most exciting and unmissable artistic events of 2018.

  • In 2018, the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra with conductor Gustavo Dudamel performed in Taiwan again for the first time in two years. Marking the beginning of a new era, the Berlin Philharmonic, led by the amazing young conductor Gustavo Dudamel, collaborated with the recently-opened National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts on an outdoor performance and on global live broadcasting, marking an important first in the history of music in Taiwan.

2017

  • Christian Arming, an Austrian music director, best known for his delicate and elegant style, along with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, visited Taiwan and played several classic works of Beethoven, such as Symphony No.9, Symphony No.6 "Pastorale", Piano Concerto No. 5, and Choral Fantasy. A wonderful cross-border music performance was witnessed during the play.

2016

  • PIXAR, 30 years of Animation Exhibition in Taiwan, there are about 400 works of original panting; hand drawing and sculptures. The wealth of beautiful art created for each movie is rarely seen outside the studio, and the finished film PIXAR send around the world would never be possible without it. It's been wonderful to bring this inside look at the studio to show how enthusiastically everyone has greeted the work of talented artists.

  • Taishin has continually to sponsor of various art and cultural events. The Berliner Philharmoniker, led by its Chief Conductor Sir Simon Rattle of Britain played German composer Robert Schumann's "Symphony No. 9 in D" at the National Concert Hall in Taiwan.

2015

  • Taishin sponsored "A Dream I Dreamed, Kusama Yayoyi" where the mesmerizing works of modern feminism and the indomitable life force against mental illness of the major avant-garde contemporary artist Kusama Yayoyi, who is also a representative of the modern feminist, were introduced and presented to the public.

  • After 37 years, two kings of jazz "Herbie Hankcock and Chick Corea” held a joint performance in Taiwan where they showcased their improvisation, classic pieces, and seamless partnership in an unforgettable Taishin Jazz Night.

2014

  • One of the most renowned orchestras in the world, the "New York Philharmonic" visited Taiwan under the guidance of the new director Alan Gilbert. They presented their interpretation of the New-York "West Side Story" as well as classical masterpieces by Tchaikovsky.

2013

  • Taishin has always focused on the spirit of "innovation", this year, we sponsored "Beauty and the Beast in 4D" which integrated technology and art, it was a theatrical extravaganza where fantasy and reality was showcased in an exhilarating visual feast.

2012

  • The Marinsky Ballet and Orchestra came to Taiwan and performed one of Tchaikovsky's most well-known ballets "The Nutcracker". Taishin Bank was one of the main sponsors of this event and it was also a perfect ending to the company's 20th anniversary celebration event series.

2011

  • Taishin is the proud sponsor of two successive exhibitions on artists from the same era, Marc Chagall and Pablo Ruiz Picasso, but who painted each in his own distinctive style. The former expressed the passion and beauty of life through Surrealist techniques while the latter’s versatility and diverse artistic style enabled him to be lauded as one of the most influential and uniquely creative artists of the 20th century.

  • The Berliner Philharmoniker, a symbol of German perfection, visited Taiwan to present a concert for the globally renowned masterpiece Symphony No. 9 in D Major by Gustav Mahler with the conductor of Sir Simon Rattle.
